At the most fundamental level, Pilates is a series of very specific exercises executed on a mat or on specialised Pilates equipment.
All of these exercises have at their very heart the goal of developing deep, stabilizing, core strength, especially in the abdominals and in the lower back.
Deep focus and body awareness is the basis of all Pilates exercises. Breathing, which unites the mind and body, is the vehicle by which this awareness is discovered, developed and maintained.
